Just to clarify my previous note, the problem with psia tiff files is when 
I drag and drop the file on Gwyddion.  It can open those files when I 
preselect the psia tiff file type.

Try to remove <Gwyddion-installation-directory>/modules/file/ols.dll.

Long explanation: PSIA files deviate from the TIFF standard.  They are
loaded (as most other TIFF-based formats) using a custom Gwyddion TIFF
loader that can deal with some deviations from the TIFF specs.  However,
the OLS module uses the standard libtiff library that probably fails on
these files already in the format detection phase.  On my Linux system,
libtiff seems to survive the encounter but I recall problems in the
past.
