with help from another member, I was able to get gwyddion installed and
working on vista 64. instead of using the glade3 3.6.1 gtk+ environment
suggested on the gwyddion site, I installed an earlier version 2.12.9
found http://gladewin32.sourceforge.net/. that worked. below is my
original problem description.

hi all,
simple question here. I've downloaded and installed glade3-3.6.1 then
rebooted. I then try to install gwyddion 2.16 and get the following
error
"please install the Gtk+ 2.8 (or newer) runtime environment before
installing gwyddion. the preferred Gtk+ package is
GladeWin32:http://gladewin32.sourceforge.net/.";
