Well, the 2D colour range settings apply to the 2D false colour map
(notice 3D has its own false colour map).  So, it is not a bug because
it behaves as expected.  But I would not call it a feature either: that
would be the possibility to adjust the ranges.

Since we would like to process more general XYZ data that some SPM
instruments start being able to produce (and essentially no SPM software
can handle) the situation with 3D view should improve in the long term.
In the short term, however, I must say I am afraid touching the current
3D view code so I will not get your hopes up concerning 3D view
improvements...
