I've just tried opening NanoScan files I have and it seems to work all
right. Anyway, there is no ‘I simply cannot open them’. You must get
an error message, at least an error message that no module can open the
file (which indicates a file format detection problem), and typically a
more specific message from the nanoscan module. If Gwyddion crashes,
well, that is also a kind of specific error. Generally, if you try
loading the files *something* happens.
So please post what happens and ideally provide the problematic files
