The movie Topsy-Turvy, which is about Gilbert & Sullivan's first production of The Mikado, has very good 1880s costuming.  There's an interesting scene where the costumes for the play are being fitted, and two of the actors, one man and one woman, each complain about not being allowed to wear a corset underneath (the man wears his for support when singing).
