I know that this seems counter-intuitive because many dye recipies call for salt
to fix the dye -- but soak your item in salt water -- heavy on the salt. I learned this in Home Ec mumblety-mumble years ago and used it for getting out those ugly repetitive blood stains from underwear. Works like a charm -- usually soaking overnight does the trick.
