I am coming in late on this one. Is the blood stain more than 24 days old? For 24 hours or less, I use cold water and dove soap and scrub with an old toothbrush. Its always worked.
For recent blood stains, that works very well, especially if you add a nice long soak in body temperature water after saturating the fabric with soap.
