I didn't answer because of the pedantic habits of British Customs
Officers. Virtually everything sent from the U.S seems to incur a
charge - which is why my friends carry gifts with them when they
visit, rather than send things. (And yes, I know what the rules are
governing charges, and that gifts don't count - depends on the value,
and the Officer!)
