I don't have much information--I had thought beads weren't much worn at  all. 
 However, Mary Boardman Crowninshield, at an event in Washington,  DC, in 
December 1815, described "Mrs. Porter [wore] a black crepe bugled a  quarter of 
a 
yard high."  This is the only reference I've seen to beaded  trim, though.
