As far as i have heard its not that they cant make it, but its the price wich would be two high that anyone would buy it. Only the best flax can be used for this fine thread, and it needs a lot of work to make it that thin.

Please pardon my ignorance, but why can't we have the same fineness now? Is it a difference in the spinning techniques, or the variety of the plant itself? Or a lack of demand for finer thread?
