I was looking at Simplicity pattern 4510 an 1860 dress.
The directions say that you cut the skirt ruffles on the bias.
Is that something they did on plain colored ruffles?
I am enhancing a gown that I already have

I am going to make a day bodice and put some ruffles on the gown like in
this picture

The gown is made from taffeta the ruffles will be black taffeta(synthetic).
Would the ruffles look better if I cut them on the bias???
