I think the original needed a proofreader. There seems to be an extaneous period after the first "navy blue, and the quotation marks seem to belong around "porpoise skin", since in the next sentence that's how we see those words grouped., You've got something here called porpoise skin silk that is navy blue in the trimmings and in the coat.
