Would anyone know of a resource for finding the prices of things in
1957?

My mom married in 1959 with 11 days notice--her mom was not pleased but they
managed to put together a wedding that fast. My dad had proposed before
returning to school that fall semester and she wanted to go back to New Orleans
with him instead of staying in Panama City, Florida. I think she paid @ $50 for
her dress but I did send her an email asking for the dress price and other
general expenses to help give you a rough idea.

In general you can also go through microfilms of old newspapers that would have
been promoting wedding items, especially the May-June issues that may have had
special sections to help plan a wedding and budget guidelines.
As soon as I get my email back I'll post it for you.
Good luck!
