De: I guess you hadn't heard. Hobby Lobby decided to down size last year. I
was told that they are looking at possibly eliminating the upholstery
section.

Hobby Lobby is a crafts, art supply and home dec shop. They never were very good for costume fabrics, at least in my area. Most of the stores I have been in across their core region of Texas and OK concentrate on quilting. The upholstery section is one aisle. With a couple of real upholstery shops in the area, with better selection and the option to have them do the work it's no wonder it isn't a big earner for them. But I think HL, like a lot of chain stores are individually managed, so they make decisions based on what is selling in their location.

We have a big discount upholstery fabric place less than a mile from the bigger of several HL here in town, and I noticed this morning that it has big "clearance" and "closing" signs all over it now. And this is right in the middle of yuppie-ville and the kind of folks who re-do furniture every year or two, so my guess is upholstery is not doing well for anyone these days. The question is, do I take advantage of their misfortune and buy more fabric, or pass because I already have more than I need stacked in my sewing room now?
