If possible shop 2 days - Sat and Sun (IIRC Sat is a holy day for one religion, and Sun a holy day for another, and some shops have one of those days off anyway)
When I was shopping for my wedding fabric, back in 1492, You did better with the haggling during the week because the weekends were filled with mothers and daughters looking foe wedding fabric so the merchants were less likely to lower their prices.
