I'm not sure who posted first, but I just noticed the thread. The
Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum has had an exhibit for about
two years now that covers (in part) the beginnings of the commercial air
industry in the US ("America by Air"). I'm not sure how close up the
photos get, and I don't have the time right now to get dragged into it
(I'm *really* bad about getting sucked into websurfing when I start with
si.edu pages), but here's one of the pages with air attendant uniforms
pictured - and links to other sections of the exhibit (as well as to the
rest of the museum).
