We used this site to purchase some kimonos two years ago. They were just as
described and absolutely gorgeous. The pieces were carefully packed for
shipping and were prompt on delivery.

I know nothing bout Japanese clothing customs, but a friend told me they
ill not wear the clothing of a deceased person. Anyone know if this is
rue? I'm just curious, because if true, what happens to those wonderfully
ecorated garments? Or is it they just will not wear/reuse the clothing a
erson was wearing when he/she died?

I had often wondered the same thing myself. A friend and her family were
osted to Japan, and they were able to furnish their house quite cheaply
ith furniture from people who had died. They, as Americans, looked upon the
nexpensive but quite good quality furnishings as a boon; the Japanese,
ourting bad luck. I also remember seeing a news story on a restaurant in
apan that encouraged its patrons to break stacks of plates that belonged to
failed restaurant. The dishes could not be used for they were viewed
imilarly to a dead person's possessions...
