I have never heard of the term "bride". Anyone know this term?

It's a term from lace making. Other words that mean the same are bars or bridges (narrow bobbin or needle-made thread connectors). They are used to link individually made motifs of a lace design. In the case of the neck opening, they help reduce the chance of tearing.
