Good evening,
Ultimately, it all comes down to taking fabric and turning it into something
wonderful, doesn't it?
Well, I thought the point of this group was to discuss historic costume,
as in the official charter. I am a member of several other groups that
focus on modern sewing, pattern-making, etc. For example:
http://artisanssquare.com/sg/index.php (modern sewing, and to some
extent handwork such as knitting)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/How-to-Make-Sewing-Patterns/?yguid=83348539 (modern
pattern making)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PatternDesign/messages?o=1&yguid=83348539
(primarily modern pattern making but currently there is a discussion
about 1930s and 1940s pattern-making systems)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/costumeinfo/?yguid=83348539 (theatrical
costume making, specifically)
Michael pointed out another group that focuses on starting and running
small ready-to-wear businesses.
But hey, if everyone else insists on discussing how to run a small
business for modern ready-to-wear here, I can just quit reading
h-costume email till it dies down. Meanwhile, I am working on a number
of strictly modern sewing projects, but I do not plan to clutter up the
list with discussion of them. And please, refrain from telling me what
I "should be" interested in. I don't even have nearly enough time to
learn and do all the things I AM really interested in.
