Under no circumstances should we style buttons...EVER. The reason behind
this are very clear (check item 1 in this list of top 10 design mistakes to
quote something relatively recent, although I'm sure I can pull out this
blasted discussion from countless email conversations:

If certain transitions are too subtle, then these can be made more apparent,
the design is an evolution, but this is a decidedly step backwards.
