I made necessary adjustments to the patch to avoid some of the regexes 
added to the token-based post and comment queries.

This is now committed to trunk at r3530.

Will a previous Postgres install update properly using this code, or is 
this the first install where Postgres acutally installs at all?  I have 
not tried this.

On a potentially separate issue...

While poking at my Postgres test install, I noticed that I am allowed to 
comment even though I do not have comment permissions.  Restricting 
access to posts of different types works as expected.

Also, I can see the comment form on pages in k2.  Is that intended?

Whether these things are related to Postgres, I have not yet tested. 
Someone should test this in MySQL/SQLite.  Set the anonymous user to 
have no commenting permissions, then observe the behavior of submitting 
a comment while accessing the site anonymously.
