I find it interesting that this thread has generated the most interest in the shortest period of time of anything that's been posted lately. I also find it interesting that it was started on -dev, rather than on the forums or in -users.
That said, I don't think the problem is the lack of login integration. Those of us who have even a smattering of interest in the forums have created logins there. If someone doesn't create a login because it's separate, that's sad. Rather, from what I remember, the intent was for the forums to be for user to user help. If that isn't happening, whether because enough informed users aren't using them or for some other reason, I'd say there's no need for them at this time. I'd rather than have them at all than have them neglected.
