Arthus

Obviously, I know how to download and install the 'tagtray' plugin. In
fact, I have even managed to do that and now have my Tag panel back.
All of this, I managed without your kind and patronising assistance.

When I was asking for alternatives, I obviously meant (without the use
of the plugin) as that's what I was objecting to. Not for myself, but
on behalf of the 'many others' who may be new to Habari and maybe just
evaluating the software.

Turns out there is one alternative and no alternative (let me say it
again - without the use of the plugin) that lets you simply select
from a list of existing tags.

Yes - I was wrong. Yes - you were right. I can enter free form tags
separated, by, comma. However, this method doesn't let me distinguish
new from old as others have pointed out. IMHO (and that of 'many
others') this is an inferior interface to that provided by the TagTray
plugin.

Yes - I have no doubt that an auto-complete plugin will address this.

Yes - I have no doubt that the new, shiny taxonomy system will address
this.

However, as you are fond of saying, I (and many others) didn't have a
problem with the performance of the Tags panel in core.

I know of one person (albeit one with a high profile in the Habari
community) who had a problem with the performance of the Tags panel.
Of course, there may well be 'many others' like him.
