Just a quick note to let you know that the public server is now running using the
built-in Java XML libraries and the Axis 1.4 implementation of SOAP. Thanks to Cedric
for his hard work on this upgrade.
Our initial testing indicates that this should be backward compatible. Let us know if
you have a different experience.
On an interesting note, I downloaded hackyInstaller.jar and then performed an update of
all of the sensors. My subjective feeling was that hackyInstaller did the update 2-3x
faster than ever before! I have no idea whether this is due to the use of the new
XML/SOAP libraries on both client and server ends, or some local network upgrade that
happened in our department, or simply some extra caffeine in my morning coffee causing a
reality distortion field to surround me. At any rate, this was pretty cool and I hope we
are pleasantly surprised with a zippier system.
Cedric: please go ahead and close these issues if you don't have anything else to do on
them.
Cheers,
Philip
