HBase is strictly a hadoop project. Don't you think it should go in hadoop's
contrib directory?

that is what I intended. Is the path for the patch relative to the repository
root, or hadoop's trunk?
Once I know how the patch is applied, I'll fix the paths in the patch file
accordingly.
