2 quick hacks brought down the execution time from 100 hrs down to 6 hrs
(actual execution time for all 100,000 mappers was a little bit less than 1 hr):
1) Changed HEARTBEAT_INTERVAL to 60 secs
2) Changed number of rpc handlers from 80 to 20
Both reduce the time by about a factor of 4.
