Edward: I just tried this patch.  Seems to work for me (The failure in TTI is 
unrelated to your patch).  Shouldn't you also change hbase so that folks do 
'./bin/hbase hql' instead of './bin/hbase shell' to run the shell (And change 
it in javadoc. explaining how to check your hbase)?  I'd suggest that you make 
it so "./bin/hbase shell" continues to work so those who have come to depend on 
it do not get a shock and think it of-a-sudden removed.
