Hello again,

I have previously reported that connecting a webcam to a USB port caused Linux RH 7.3 to hang (in the kernel sense, total freeze). This was previously worked around by disabling the USB 2.0 option, thus giving up some good transfer speed.

We're talking about a 845PE - based Intel motherboard (this chipset hosts the USB interface).

Solution: Upgraded from 2.4.18-3 to 2.4.21, re-enabled USB 2.0, and everything ticks like a clockwork.

Tried scanning: It's indeed faster.

Eli
