Yeah, simple old make - the secrets you have never seen before.
Or at least, the building of more complex rules, pattern
substitution, recursive make, .phony targets, compilation flags.

Even a bonus note on the side, about ccache and make depend ...

The idea may be to take a makefile, and to dig into every technique used
to create it, while going a bit to the sides as well.
another idea is to scan techniques.
