Haml comes bundled with an executable, located in "bin/haml" (or automatically installed with the gem) that does just that. Whenever I need to do something in pure HTML/CSS, I always get the Haml gem or, if RubyGems isn't available, download a tarball (http://rubyforge.org/ frs/download.php/18227/haml-1.5.0.tar.gz), make it in Haml and Sass, and run the templates through the executable. The syntax is just "haml input.haml output.html" and "sass input.sass output.css".
