It is of course not released and not ready, indeed our friendly bot says:- "Jaunty Jackalope is the code for Ubuntu 9.04, due April 2009 - Lots of breakage between now and April - please join #ubuntu+1 (on freenode) for discussion and support". That said I have it running on my daily use laptop. Which CD did you try to install from? An alpha or a daily image? Or did you try an in place upgrade?
