i am trying to set up a Zoom 3095 USB modem on a Viglen MPC. the modem works occasionally, but most of the time seems not to respond properly. when it has worked, i've been able to dial an ISP and connect, no problem.
i don't understand what the problem is that means that the modem doesn't work for 99% of the time and does work the other 1%. i have a brand new installation of Xubuntu 9.10, with all updates applied. i have installed the driver from linuxant.com, wvdial, and minicom. i ran the script that linuxant provide to download and install. when the modem kept failing, i downloaded the driver source and compiled that. lsusb shows: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 04f2:0116 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd KU-2971 German Keyboard Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 005 Device 002: ID 045e:0084 Microsoft Corp.
