FWIW I had issues yesterday (even though I'm using volatile - although I was a version down). I upgraded clam and then it failed to start, kicked the clamav extra updates crontab I have (which pulls in extra lists for email de-spamming) and then it was happy. I think the crontab had not been running due to lack of a newline in it (now fixed).
