Hello Roger,

I have an office at the end of the garden and my wife has one in the house. For many years we have had a Panasonic KXT 206E Telephone exchange which has enabled us to transfer calls to each other (and even play "Greensleeves" to the caller while waiting). It also has a door intercom which is handy when there is nobody in the house.

It appears to be coming to the end of its life and I would like to replace it with something similar. This sort of functionality seems to be provided by wireless DECT phones but my wife is a bit reluctant to introduce more wireless into the house. Does anybody have any suggestions for something to use the existing cabling.

Unless you are willing to go full VoIP, I would suggest that you find yourself another 206E. These things are fixable (I have 160+ in the field where I work), because they are rather simple. Only throw that away if you cannot find the parts for it, or if you really want to get rid of it. If you feel you want to skip it, please let me know and I will pay for P&P, I want it! :-)

While I don't have the expertise to fix it myself, I can most likely put you in contact with somebody who could either fix it for you (for a fee), or show you in the right direction. Please feel free to contact me off-list for these details.
