Hi all
Anyone know / remember how to configure a 9-pin dot matrix printer with lpr on a modern distro (e.g. Ubuntu)? As I recall from way back, you could do lpr file.txt and it would go straight to the printer. lpq gave a print queue. I've lpstat -t but it's not detecting the printer. What I want to do is get it to print native characters instead of treating everything as graphics. I have it printing "graphics" fine via CUPS but it's printing everything (even lines of code) as graphics - so it's very slow. And for the curious - no - I'm not having this replace my modern printer - but I hate to see working tech binned - and besides which I have a box of untouched fanfold paper in the loft. Cheers Rob
