No need to be sorry. :) I'm the one that is learning here. I didn't notice
that logging is done from the copy of URI and didn't give you full
information about the difference between %HPR and %[path].

OK, at first glance your patch looks good. However the description of

I was scratching my head for a long time with this. "HTTP path only" sounds
much better to me. I've adjusted the patch.
