PAKISTAN: Mass media strengthening Sino-Pakistan friendship China Radio International leader says media helps build good relations and cultural awareness Dawn Thursday, July 7, 2005 Peshawar --- The mass media is playing a vital role in strengthening relations between Pakistan and China and due to people-to-people contacts these friendly relations are growing day by day. The leader of a six-member delegation of China Radio International (CRI), Mr Shi Jing Wu, said this while exchanging views with listeners of the CRI Urdu Service from the NWFP at a reception hosted by Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, president, Radio China Listeners Club (RCLC), NWFP, at the Peshawar Club here on Thursday. It was also attended by Shi Wen Zhen, head of Urdu service at CRI China; Sun Lian Mei Urdu expert at the CRI; Ms Hao Qiao CRI bureau chief for Pakistan, and Li Gang, CRI correspondent for Pakistan, besides Tasleem Hussain, vice-chairman Pak-China Friendship Association (PCFA), NWFP; Ghulam Abbas, station director, and Qayum Jadoon, senior producer of Radio Pakistan, Peshawar. Shi Jiang Wu and members of his delegation exchanged views with listeners and asked for suggestions for further improvement in the Urdu service. Later, gifts were presented to leaders of various listeners clubs in the NWFP as a token of appreciation and participation. Earlier, Amjad Nazir, provincial secretary for sports, culture, tourism and youth affairs, briefed the delegation about NWFPs natural beauty, opportunities for tourism and efforts made by the government for further development of various healthy cultural activities in the province.
