Radio Mirchi plans presence across India Entertainment Network (India) Limited, (ENIL), a Times Group company, which owns the country's leading radio broadcasting brand 'Radio Mirchi', will further participate in the government's bidding process, to expand its footprint in the country. While observing that freedom of press need not be tested on nationality, Justice Vikramjit Sen said the government in a circular could not restrict the publication of syndicated articles and features of the foreign publications in Indian newspapers, magazines and periodicals. -Business Standard 20/01 +++++++++++ Adlabs bags 14 FM frequencies in East Anil Ambani backed Adlabs continues to dominate the FM-II radio bidding for the eastern states by bagging 14 frequencies in 17 cities at an estimated investment of Rs 4 crore. Till date, Adlabs have got 40 radio stations out of 58 it had bid for at an estimated investments of over Rs 115 crore. The bidding on Friday saw the allottment of 48 frequencies with government earning Rs 20.70 crore in revenue. FM RADIO IN EASTERN STATES CONCLUDES The bidding for the second phase of private FM radio for 17 cities spread across Eastern Zone took place here today. In all, 59 bids were received for 66 frequencies. Of these, 48 bids prima facie qualified. A revenue of over Rs. 20.70 crores by way of one time entry fee is expected from todays bidding. With this, 165 frequencies have been allotted against 206 available frequencies. In todays bidding, Patna received the highest bid amount at Rs. 5.13 crore. "We are planning to compile an archive and convert old and rare footages into video compact disc (VCD) and digital video disc (DVD) formats. For this purpose, the material has been divided into three categories. The estimated cost of the project is above Rs 18 crore and towers will be set up in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Jaipur. The other cities are Hissar, Karnal, Shimla & Patiala. -Indiainfoline.com 23/01 +++++++++++++++++++ India's Marans to sell 20% in Sun TV The Marans plan to dilute up to 20 per cent equity in their broadcasting venture, Sun TV, through a combination of private placement with foreign investors and an initial public offer.The company has sought the approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board for bringing in the foreign investors, though it has not finalised their names.
