Lakshwadeep islands to be connected by Ham radio

Three islands in Lakshwadeep will be connected by ham
radio for the 
first
time on January 15. Ham radio operators will set up a
base in Magatti,
Bangaram and Kadmat islands as part of a ten-day
international ham 
fest.
After a year of intense lobbying, the National
Institute of Amateur 
Radio,
Hyderabad, has succeeded in getting permission from
the Union ministry 
of
communications and information technology to operate
hams from 
Lakshadweep.
