Bolivia, 6155.20, Radio Fides, 0945-1000, The freq is clear of the
regular stronger station, so noted Radio Fides here with a male
in probably Spanish language comments. Signal is very weak and
at this point hearing the specific language clearly is difficult. After
a minute or two the station's signal drops deeper into the ether and
nothing but the carrier is audible. However, at 0950 more talk is
heard by a female possibly? Too much noise and not enough signal
to continue listening. (Chuck Bolland, July 14, 2009)

Peru, 6019.41, Radio Victoria, 0955-1005, At tune in noted the
usual Preacher in his "weeping" Spanish language sermon. Fortunately
Radio Victoria is down a few Hertz from 6020 because it sounds like
there's probably two other "large" stations sharing this frequency. With
a good notch filter though, the larger stations can be nulled out and
Victoria is rather easy to hear especially when the 'weeping" preacher
is broadcasting. At 1000 noted live comments from a different male
who gave time and then lead into canned ID and promos followed
with music. Signal was fair for Victoria. (Chuck Bolland, July 14, 2009)

Peru, 4775, Radio Tarma, 1029-1040, Noted steady Spanish talk
by a female. She continued during the period. Signal was threshold.
(Chuck Bolland, Julay 14, 2009)

Peru, 5039.19, Radio Libertad, 1038-1045, At tune in, noted music.
At 1041 a male comments in Spanish until 1047 when music is continued again.
Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland, July 14, 2009)

Malaysia, 7270, RTM Wai FM, (pres), 1050-1100 Noted a female
in comments. Iban listed as language. She is followed by music. Between
1055 and 1103, the signal improves slightly.
At that time noted two females in conversation before the hour. On
the hour a different female talks in possibly Japanese language. Can't be
certain since the signal is still rather poor. At 1110 a second female
starts with talk in a different language. (Chuck Bolland, July 14, 2009)

Radio Pakistan still hopes to revive Khalistan agitation
http://www.dailyindia.com/show/322749.php

>From ANI

Abohar, July 13: Radio Pakistan in its latest broadcast has attempted to
provoke communal sentiments in Punjab.

In its Punjabi Darbar programme, it mentioned about the Blue Star
Operation of 1984 and blamed the Akalis for not showing unity in reviving
the issue.

Radio Pakistan's anti-India propaganda and attempt to provoke people have
been contested by Prof. Gurdeep Singh, a Sikh Scholar and Rajinder Singh,
a village head, in Abohar.

"Sikh religion is beyond politics. The Sixth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Hargobind
planned the Akal Takht right in front of Shri Harmander Sahab and the
staircase of Akal Takht was constructed from Shri Harmander Sahab, so to
make the world know how above the Sikh religion is from politics," said Prof.
Gurdeep Singh, a Sikh scholar,

"There is no discrimination Hindus and Sikhs in India. Pakistan radio wants
to create tensions between Hindus and Sikhs. But people here are now well
aware of Pakistan's propaganda. A number of Sikhs have sacrificed their
lives for the country. The Sikhs are given equal respect like other religions
in
the country," said Rajinder Singh, a village head.

Broadcasters of Radio Pakistan must remember Indian listeners switch on
to their channel just to hear the good music of Pakistan and not to their anti-
India propaganda.

The four-day Operation Blue Star was an Indian military operation ordered
by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to remove Sikh separatists who
were amassing weapons in the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

It was launched in response to a deterioration of law and order in the Indian
state of Punjab.

Venezuela steps up control of television, radio
Thu Jul 9, 2009 2:39pm EDT

http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSTRE5686HU20090709

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela is taking dozens of radio stations off the
air and putting stricter rules on cable and satellite television, a minister
said
on Thursday, part of President Hugo Chavez's battle with private media
firms.

Disodado Cabello, the public works minister who also oversees Venezuela's
broadcasting watchdog, said 154 FM radio stations will be taken off the air
and shifted into public hands in what he called "democratizing the airwaves."

He recently said 86 AM radio stations will also be hit as the government
steps up efforts to turn Venezuela into a socialist society.

"The use of the radio-electric spectrum is one of the few areas where the
revolution has not been felt," Cabello said in a presentation to legislators
about the need for reform in the sector.

Since taking office a decade ago, Chavez has broken up large farms and
nationalized important economic sectors including the oil industry.

Chavez and his supporters describe their drive to broadcast a pro-
government message as a "media war" with private news companies.
Venezuela's media is highly polarized with biased coverage the norm on
both government and private networks.

The president has vastly expanded the number of publicly owned television
and radio stations since he took office in 1999. Some are directly owned or
financed by the government, while others are operated by cooperatives and
community groups.

In 2007 Chavez did not renew the concession for a widely watched critical
private TV station RCTV.

Cabello also announced plans to apply Venezuelan broadcasting regulations
to cable and satellite television stations that produced more than a third of
their content in the oil-exporting nation.

The new rules for subscription television seemed to be aimed specifically at
RCTV, which now broadcasts only on cable.

RCTV was Venezuela's most popular television station, watched by millions
because of its soap operas. The station was highly critical of Chavez and
played an active role in a failed coup against him in 2002.

** CHINA. Firedrake July 14: at 1306 nothing audible on 8400 or 9000; at 1315
poor-fair on 13970; 1317 poor on 14430, none audible 15-19 MHz (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. VOI, 9526-, Tuesday July 14 at 1302 opening weekly `Exotic
Indonesia` hookup to RRI Banjarmasin with banter between Banj guy and this time
an OM rather than YL at Jakarta studio. Listened carefully in case a date was
mentioned as often the case, but heard none, tho again claimed to be `live`.
Ron Howard found a VOI website claiming that this Exotic Indonesia series was
running from April to December, 2008! If it was really a rerun from last year,
days of week would not match days of month in 2009.

Another question is that if it is really live on the 1300 UT broadcast (8 pm
local as the site claims), is it repeated on all the following English
broadcasts during the next 24 hours? Continues with regular features but breaks
for kontact with Kalimantan, at 1321 the M&M conversing again, giving phone
number and other listener input info to Banjarmasin; 1323 back to Jakarta for
Today`s Commentary, by a YL about the presidential and vice presidential races.
Only fair reception in noise but no QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA. VOR Khabarovsk, 12000, July 14 at 1314, more distorted than ever in
Chinese talk, very unstable carrier, better during music than talk at the
moment, but the trouble increases and decreases cyclically (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH AFRICA [and non]. As I tuned by 7310, July 14 at 0600 I noticed two
stations in English mixing about equal levels, DW and BBCWS. Now, DW is
scheduled here at 0600-0630 in English via Sines, PORTUGAL, but nothing else.
However, BBCWS relay in English via Meyerton, SOUTH AFRICA runs 0400 right up
to 0600 also on 7310 --- so I conclude that SENTECH failed to close down their
transmitter on time. This went on for at least a couple minutes merging
newscasts from both before I moved on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. VOA Korean, July 14 at 1309, poor on 7225, good on // 11740,
except talk on 7225 was running a few sex behind 11740. 7225 is 329 degrees
from Tinian, while 11740 is 21 degrees from Tinang, both 250 kW (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ###

I am looking from info about mp3 players/recorder with line-in recording,
suitable for DX recording . I had an Creative Zen Nano Plus, simple and
straightforward and relatively cheap. But it fell to the floor and it didn't
worked anymore, despite efforts to revive it reinstalling the firmware.

A Web search in general provides somewhat outdated data.

A price under 50 USD would be fine... and European shops would work too, since
I bought that Zen in Spain and I have a brother there.

Thanks in advance for help.

"BBC World Service extends reach by expanding as a multimedia broadcaster" says
2008/09 Annual Review

The launch of BBC Persian television and other major multimedia developments
helped BBC World Service extend its reach to record numbers while maintaining
the highest standards of journalism, according to the BBC World Service Annual
Review for 2008/09, published today. The review provides information about BBC
World Service's performance during a year of major news events like Gaza,
Georgia and the US Elections. In his foreword, BBC Global News Director Richard
Sambrook highlights BBC World Service's expansion as a multimedia media
broadcaster during the year which included the launch of BBC Persian television:
"People come to BBC World Service for journalism that is challenging and asks
difficult questions, yet respects different points of view and actively
encourages debate.
"Increasingly, they want access at a time and place that suits them. Major
progress was made towards achieving that goal in 2008/9."

The review highlights:

- BBC World Service further developed its multimedia strategy, including the
launch of BBC Persian television; the growth of BBC Arabic television into a
full 24-hour operation; and other online and mobile developments.

- BBC World Service attracted its highest audience ever, with a global
multimedia audience estimate of 188 million weekly across its 32 language
services.

- Independent research indicates that BBC World Service's reputation for
providing unbiased and objective news and information is stronger than that of
any other international radio competitor in most markets surveyed.

- In a unique partnership, six new YouTube video channels were launched - in
Arabic, Portuguese for Brazil, Persian, Russian, Spanish and Urdu.

- The BBC Global News podcast was downloaded nearly two million times in
January 2009.

- BBC Global News services - which include BBC World Service, BBC World News
television and bbc.com/news (the BBC's international-facing online news site) -
have a record global weekly audience of over 238 million during 2008/09.

- BBC World Service's Grant-in-Aid funding for 2008/09 was ?265million.
