Just as it did after Cyclone Tracy, Radio Australia's Shepparton base has been providing short-wave radio broadcasts into cyclone ravaged parts of north Queensland. Radio Australia transmission manager Nigel Holmes said the service had been relaying ABC Queensland Local radio on two short-wave services into the region hit by Cyclone Yasi.
``We got the request at 12.45 pm on Tuesday and we had it up and running in 31 minutes,'' Mr Holmes said yesterday.
