** BOTSWANA [and non?]. 13830, July 20 at 0600, VOA French is very poor at S4,
and also on the high side only, a louder noise field up to 13837, not sounding
like DRM. Hard to tell whether a defect from the VOA transmitter, some kind of
ute, or surely not jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9710, July 20 at 1322, RHC music and then talk are
overmodulated/distorted, splattering at least 10 kHz above and below (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. Hours and hours of snow on my analog TV set to channel 2, during
numerous sporadic E openings, per the 6 meter maps, with no results here; until
finally some video shows up during a big opening over eastern USA: July 20 at
1547 UT, fade-in some béisbol, batter up, Spanish commentary. Very briefly, and
the audio level, when in, is higher than normal, stays in a bit even after the
video fades; 1550 another brief video f/in and f/out. 1551 some music is heard.
1555 briefly some Morse code! (mixture? Overload from a local repeater ID? I
sometimes get that on FM around 88.1).

Cuba is the most likely source for any analog TVDX in Spanish, Mexico having
evaporated. I check the Tele-Rebelde schedule at
http://www.tvcubana.icrt.cu/cartelera-de-la-tvcubana/telerebelde

and sure enough, today at 10 am - 1 pm [14-17 UT] (and again in the afternoon),
it`s ``Camponeato Nacional de Béisbol Juvenil``, so I`m pretty sure this is it.
Keep monitoring and at 1703 some video f/in, 1704 two guys side by side, 1707
maybe a star logo between them like on the TR website. I pause for lunch until
1747, and resuming, nothing more to be seen or heard past 1905 UT.

This source
http://www.dxinfocentre.com/tv-car.htm
shows Tele-Rebelde from a 132 kW transmitter in Habana. There`s another, 4 kW
in La Capitana, wherever that is: provinces not given; and only one other ch 2
in Cuba, 5 kW Cubavisión in far Santiago. Only Habana is in single-Es range
from here, an even 2.100 megameters or circa 1305 miles. It`s far enough for
any TVDX from there always to have been noteworthy (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12072.0-USB, July 20 at 1327, tuning from one R. Australia frequency
to another, I encounter a US military tactical net with many stations, a lot of
them barely audible. Refers to ``Seaburner`` (spelling?) several times. One
soon gives ``local`` timecheck as ``8:28``, i.e. CDT same as OK. Abbr`d
numerical calls such as ``40`` in contact with ``04``; later ``45``, ``50``,
``53`` more fully preceded by ``Dark Night`` (or Knight?).

Fragments: ``de-con[tamination] team requested``; ``chemical or gas?``; ``radio
check``; ``three vehicles HMV-type``; ``we`re in Mango (?) as we travel thru
Utica`` [Mingo and Utica are major streets in Tulsa but do not intersect]; By
now it`s 1346 as something is ``denied``. 1350, ``any update on the de-con
team?``; 1357 ``West Side`` twice, about a ``med-evac``; ``fair and fire broken
down, unable to relay``; partial alfanumerix including 91874297 [918 is Tulsa
area code, but these are probably red herrings]. 1359, ``41`` contacting
``04``, still going past 1400 with cryptic numbers. I break for breakfast;
still going at 1451, between ``Dark Night 53`` and ``51``. There are long
pauses between some transmissions.

Is this a training exercise, or some real event?? I then search the UDXF yg on
12072 and hit a log of same just from yesterday and ante-yesterday:

``Jul 19 6:36 PM --- 12072.0 Numerous DARK KNIGHT stations & WILD EAGLE
stations with exercise comms (artillery & air defense) from around the Fort
Polk, LA area: 1250 UTC+ in USB voice (18-19/JULY/2016) (JLM) (Jack L Metcalfe,
Stanford KY, July 19, UDXF yg via DXLD)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1834 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday July 20 at
1315.5, fair on WRMI 9955, but with Cuban pulse jamming at almost equal level:
tnx a lot, Arnie! Jamming still going at 1345 when WRMI starts airing `Ask
WWCR` instead of `Viva Miami`. Similar to but stronger than pulsing on 9805
against no Martí. Next WORs:
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
