V7AB was VERY GOOD, on peaks.... Taking all things into consideration.
Recorded around 1045UTC On 11/19/16 in Galena, Alaska using a Grundig
Sattelit 750 and 225 foot long wire and Wellbrook ALA1530LNP loop... In -15
below weather.

Listen at the very beginning of this clip, that island music fading out as
it ends is V7AB:

https://youtu.be/A3yR1yC1xxU

The island music mix seems to pop up through the jumble at other points too.

Here's another recording of V7AB, where the island music mix is bubbling up:

V7AB 1098 has a brand new Nautel 25,000 watt transmitter installed and over
the summer, they apparently did a short video tour.. and showed a shot
where the transmitter was set at 13KW, don't know if that has changed or not

I need a radio with an accurate digital read out that will tune 9khz split
channels, has excellent selectivity/sensitivity, is a bit harsh and can
withstand cold.. But it also MUST have a jack for an external AM antenna,
preferably a 3.5mm or pl259/so239 type connection.

Any leads/ideas?

Yup, so unless things have changed, which is possible... V7AB is running
more then the previous 10kw but not the full 25KW theyre capable of. The
difference between 10kw and 13kw probably isnt even noticeable, even
locally.
