** CUBA. 6000 & 6145, April 23 at 0544 check of the Cuban Five RHC English
frequencies: these two are just barely modulated; 6100 is fair, 5040 loud, 6060
louder with American protest/folk song (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, UT Monday April 24 at 0003, RHC is in Kriyol here, not
Esperanto; did not have a chance to check at 2230 or 2300 on this or other
frequencies, none of which had it a week ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. Correxion: I must withdraw my ``kudos`` to Arnie for
avoiding collision with The Mighty KBC, the first UT Sunday after he moved RHC
from 6165 to 6145. I so wanted to say something nice about him. You will recall
that April 16 at 0100 I found that RHC had gone back to 6165, leaving 6145 to
KBC. I did not listen to the rest of the hour, assuming that was a deliberate
move to avoid interference until 0200. But a delayed report from Ken Zichi in
the MARE Tipsheet shows that RHC was back on 6145 already by 0125:

``GERMANY: 6145 The Mighty KBC w/Uncle Eric's Giant Juke Box about equal with R
Havana Cuba which made it pretty unpleasant to listen to, but the digital mode
made it through pretty OK: Arrangement in the dining room of the Dutch
ambassador's residence in Washington for Dutch Tuåp [Tulip] Days. (Sic. as
received) Inline image 2, 4+353+2 kinda fluttery & serious co-channel QRM from
Cuba, in EE 0125-0135 16/Apr SB-310 + randomwire--Zichi MI``

The following week on April 23, as I reported last time, RHC stayed on 6145,
carrier from before 0100, for me underneath KBC modulation but atop its signal
level. It was much worse for Kraig Krist in VA, who does a segment on The Giant
Jukebox himself:

``6145 - Mighty KBC. 0000 UT "Dave Mason Show". S6 with static and fading. 0012
signal "improves" to S9 at times, but Dave's voice, what he is saying is
difficult to understand. It's easier understanding the songs. 0034 signal S9
+10dB at times. 0053 KBC audio weakens. The signal is still S9 +10dB but
something is "stepping" on the audio. At 0054 I hear singing on 6145 kHz. It's
not from the Mighty KBC! 0055 the Mighty KBC is getting crushed. At 0100 I
discover the cause of the interference. It's Radio Habana Cuba with their
English program on 6145 kHz. From 0100 the Mighty KBC is useless on 6145! 73,
(Kraig, KG4LAC, Krist, April 24, dxldyg via DXLD)``

So QSY to 9925 cannot come soon enough, but supposed to be one more week on
6145 (Glenn Hauser, OK DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6900.01-AM, April 24 at 0010, C&W music at S8, 0012 talk over
music; some QRM from Spanish peskies on LSB (normal inhabitants here so avoided
by pirates), evitable by USB tuning. 0033 S7, lo-fi and somewhat distorted
music, no announcements heard. 0040 wild SFX mixing with mx and now up to S9;
0045 more LSB peskies. These logs say it was Unknown Name Radio Network again:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,34416.0.html
as previously heard on 6880 and other frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6912.5-AM, April 24 at 0037, very weak music at S4, unID
pirate, also unID per these logs of electronic dance music:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,34417.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1874 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday April
23 at 0328 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, fair, about 3 minutes in so started circa
0325. Also confirmed Sunday April 23 after 2330 on WBCQ 9330.0v-CUSB, fair.
Also confirmed UT Monday April 24 after 0300 on Area 51 webcast; and very poor
in noise level at 0325 check on WBCQ 5130v. Not confirmed Monday April 24 at
0330 on WRMI 9955, because another repeat of the `Bye, Bye Sitkunai` hour
special has been playing since 0300 like exactly one week ago; as I suspected
might happen. Next:
Mon 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 0030 WRMI 7730 to WNW
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE, 9455? to WNW
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE, 9455? to WNW
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1030 WRMI 5850 to NW, 9455? to WNW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Note: 9455 is still not activated as of April 23, and when it is, unclear
whether will still be // 9955, 15770 and 5850 at above WOR times like former
6855 was (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3215, April 23 at 0547, no signal from WWCR. Must be off; higher
frequencies from Tennessee about one megameter away are reduced to very poor
level: not unusual on 49m, but very unusual on 60: 5085 WTWW, 4840 WWCR, so
figured 3215 would still be inbooming if on. WWV reported:

``Geophysical Alert Message
Solar-terrestrial indices for 22 April follow.
Solar flux 84 and estimated planetary A-index 54.
The estimated planetary K-index at 0600 UTC on 23 April was 4.
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been moderate.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the G2 level occurred.
Space weather for the next 24 hours is predicted to be moderate.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the G2 level are expected``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5980, April 24 at 0006, weak signal with DGS // 5935 WWCR-2. It`s the
leapfrog mixing product normally not radiating until much later, because WWCR-4
transmitter is running S9+40 of dead air on 5890; at 45 kHz separations. #4
does not start 5890 until 0200 weekdays, later on weekends, and per program
schedule is off the air between 4 and 10 pm CT Sundays, still with wrong UT
conversion at right margin as ``22-04``!

This would have blocked R. Chaski, Perú, if it were still on the 5980 air until
0103v*. Claudio Galaz in Chile found that missing before 2400 UT April 20, last
heard on April 18 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5050, April 24 at 0002, WWRB is already on tonight with
anti-Democratic political huxter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGESET)

** U S A. 770, April 23 at 1214 UT, steady signal mentions
crawfordbroadcasting.com and loops N/S. Surely it`s my nearest at that angle
after sunrise here, KAAM Garland (Metroplex) TX. But that station is not
licensed to Crawford, and the website shows their only 770 is KCBC San
Francisco (Manteca) CA, certainly not what I am hearing with its lobes into the
Pacific, even if on 50 kW cardioid day pattern. KAAM program schedule
http://www.kaamradio.com/schedule/
states merely `public affairs`` for 7-7:30 am Sundays. Apparently they carry
some Crawford program (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1030, April 23 at 1221 UT, IDs as ``Real Country 1030 AM, KCWJ`, i.e.
Blue Springs (Independence) MO (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1140, April 23 at 1223 UT, jazz show with classic performances from
1948, 1949; 1241 UT Miles and the Nonet. Tight DF for NE/SW, atop some SS QRM
from AR or NL, 1258 UT finally YL talkover mentions Kansas City, so KCXL
Liberty MO, now on 4 kW non-direxional day power. Name of show in passing
sounded like ``Neon Jazz``, but program schedule http://www.kcxl.com/shows.html
lists `Neon Beat` at 6-8 am CT and all afternoons Saturdays & Sundays,
otherwise far-right extremist talk shows (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
