NIGERIA Thanks to a tip of Dave Valko in PA-US on Oct 9 at 20 UT

noted [probably] FRCN Kaduna Nigeria here in remote units
at Germany and Belgium on
6089.909 kHz S=5 at 2049 UT -94dBm tiny level,
but totally covered by Amhara ETH on 6090.001 kHz,
Kaduna transmission switch-off at 2130 UT on Oct 9.

>From 2105 UT I checked remotes in Liverpool, Greece, Qatar,
and various in Japan, and noted ahead
CNR2 program from Geermu site 6090.002 kHz, in \\ Beijing 6065 kHz.

Heard between 0525 and 0550 UT here in southern Germany:
a recording of 0548 UT on Oct 10 made. Distorted audio though.

Should be African FRCN Kaduna radio program.
Frequency wandered from
6089.915 kHz at 0525 UT S=6 or -86dBm on diverse Perseus units
here in Europe, to
6089.913 kHz at 0550 UT.
Grayline fade-out time signal around 06.10 UT on Oct 10,
S=5 or -98dBm decreased signal strength.

Checking for 6090 Amhara at 2000, I found a het there. Zooming in,
there's another signal on 6089.905. Noticed on other web receivers in
Europe, including the Canary Islands. I can't get any definite audio on
any receiver though. Just Amhara.
Could this be Kaduna back on???
Only Amhara was here yesterday.

I think they must have be having some serious break downs, or something...

Just after 1pm, I checked 13650khz Arabic and got a good signal signal to
get the text to decode but audio wouldn't lock on.. it was teetering right
on what was useable., so I went for a walk thinking it'd pick up and be a
bit stronger later.

I come back just after 2pm, 13650 is gone and 15540 is nowhere to be seen
on my radios at home and checking UTwente, nothing on the waterfall there
either.

I was watching the UTwente waterfall a few days ago and saw 15540 DRM drop
off just about 1947, over an hour ahead of schedule.

Batteries in my Wellbrook ALA100LN amplifier controller go dead, ok that?s
normal. I replace them.

Plug in, and the light won?t light up. I double check. Still won?t light
up. I thought the Wellbrook amp controller had broken somehow

Check the batteries and I had one in backwards.... switch it and the
Wellbrook amp controller turned on

I breathed a sigh of relief

** CANADA. 1610, Oct 10 at 0634 UT, again at this hour YL in Luso Portuguese,
mentions call CHHA in English pronunciation. Clearer with USB tuning,
presumably due to relative ACI levels 1620 vis-?-vis 1600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENNG DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6145, Oct 11 at 0100, RHC English is missing now at nominal start, so
I guess it`s completely off as not heard for several nights after 0500 either.
Ex-6165 not on either. Only other English, 6000 remains with OK signal; Spanish
6060 not very good & 5040 good. Absent 6145 also means there can be no leapfrog
on 6230, shux (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 11650, Oct 11 at 0120, Chinese at S7-S4 with slight echo.
NDXC/Aoki shows only thing is CRI in Chinese, 500 kW, 212 degrees from Urumqi,
so not a jammer, and the echo should be about right for dual short/long path
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4054.988, Oct 11 at 0041, TGAV Radio Verdad must be back! S9 open
carrier vs storm noise level a little higher. There`s lots of lightning over
S/E Mexico and Guatemala itself, but in US none closer than Illinois or the
TN-AL-MS tri-state area. Straining, I think there is a trace of modulation, but
it`s useless. Later delayed into my inbox, I find this stamped 2339 UT Oct 10
in enlarged font but not in blue:

``RADIO VERDAD EN EL AIRE --- LES INFORMAMOS A TODOS QUE HOY A LAS 4:30 PM,
HORA DE GUATEMALA [2230 UT Oct 10], LOGRAMOS SALIR AL AIRE, AUNQUE SEA CON
MENOS AUDIO. AGRADECEREMOS A TODOS, ESPECIALMENTE A LOS DIEXISTAS, INFORMARNOS
C?MO EST? LLEGANDO LA SE?AL EN LOS 4055 KHZ. DIEXISTAS, DIVULGUEN LA
INFORMACI?N POR FAVOR. QUE DIOS LES BENDIGA. DR. ?DGAR AM?LCAR MADRID, RADIO
VERDAD``

To which I replied:

Estimado ?dgar, Sintonizo casi todas las noches a 4055 en espera de su renacer.
Antes de recibir esta nota, estaba captando la se?al en 4054.988 a las 0041 TU
con nivel S9, contra ruido de tormentas cercanas un poco m?s fuertes, pero casi
inaudible el nivel de audio.

?Es el transmisor original, o de radioafici?n en su vez? ?Con cu?ntos vatios?
La potencia parece igual a la acostumbrada, pero no vale sin mucho m?s audio.
Saludos, Glenn Hauser, Oclajoma`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 11725, Oct 10 at 0616, RNZI is still on here instead
of 9630, at poor level, yet the SSOB on 25m. It may not work so well for us now
as in our summer. 9630 has a very poor signal as R. Aparecida has been
re-uncovered. RNZI has made yet another schedule shakeup, eliminating 9630:
0359-0758 11725, 0759-1258 7425 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Oct 11 at 0154, very poor carrier, which in evenings
must be Station YHWH: Yes, I can barely make out the voice of Josiah, and still
at 0220 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ZANZIBAR. 11735, Oct 9 at 2016, typical Ungujan music as ZBC is reactivated
after some weeks, as per numerous reports since October 7. Here it`s only S4
with deep fades to nothing. Has news in English some days at 1800-1810. Normal
sign-off is 2100v, altho one report said as late as 2200. Look out for R.

UNIDENTIFIED. 1030, Oct 11 at 0226 UT, good signal looping N/S or slightly
clockwise from there, James Dobson program with 877 number, mentions `Family
Talk` which is one of his numerous sub-shows.

Suspect 50 kW ND daytimer KCTA Corpus Christi TX, long after sunset, and even
longer after WBZ sunset. Is it on his roster? Yes, but at another illegal time,
presumably Central, no obstacle for gospel huxters above the Laws of Man!

Family Talk
http://drjamesdobson.org/Broadcasts/Stations
Corpus Christi KCTA-AM 1030 M-F 3:30 AM

Only other religious station on that bearing is 50/4 kW U4 WCTS Maplewood MN,
but NOT on his list. Hoped for an hourbottom ID, but all I hear is a KAB/Ad
Council PSA for recycling, then another g.h. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

UNIDENTIFIED. 6130, Oct 11 at 0053, two very poor carriers making a low het
with each other; 0100 I only hear one with talk too poor to copy. No Latin
Americans known here, not even Cuban mixing products; NDXC/Aoki shows the only
two 6130s at this hour are Tibet, 100 kW at 290 degrees from Lhasa, and Laos 50
KW ND. Certainly not a time I would expect to hear it; Vientiane sunrise today
was 2302, almost two hours earlier, but conceivably a remnant, while Lhasa
would still be good for grayline. As a matter of fact, Laos has been reported
slightly off-frequency to low side, as Wolfgang logged these two but at an
earlier hour, Laotian sunrise:

``LAOS / CHINA, 6129.964, LNR Vientiane, and co-channel equal signal level of
S=9+5dB from 6130 kHz even from PBS Xizang Lhasa Tibet western China, at 2301

UNIDENTIFIED. 17900-USB, Oct 9 at 2018, 2-way in Spanish, one loud & clear, the
