** COLOMBIA. 5910.237, Jan 22 at 0335, VP signal with music, no doubt the
sporadic Alcaraván Radio, typically way off-frequency. 0427 much better S7-S9
with song, Spanish announcement (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ERITREA. 7181.553, Jan 22 at 0351, S7 carrier, trace of talk, from VOBME on
typical split frequency. INTRUDERS in the 40m ham band.

7140.018, Jan 22 at 0353, JBA carrier even weaker from the other VOBME. No DRM
jamming audible around either but that too could be so weak as to be
indistinguishable from band noise level. Hargeisa is much stronger (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. 9455, Jan 22 at 0428, I`m standing by for a WOR check on WRMI,
as R. Japón NHK World is wrapping Spanish semihour with music, talkover
complete Spanish SW schedule which is only: 0400 on 6195, 5985; 0930 on 6195.
She doesn`t even know they are on an additional good frequency, 9455! 5985 is
JBA here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 7330, Jan 22 at 0341, S9+10/20 two quick features in Spanish
from AARP (but initials pronounced in English), about juventud, 0343 choir hymn
with aleluyas, 0346 ``Arqueología Bíblica`` feature, from La Voz Alegre, the
Spanish service of Madagascar World Voice. Aoki names this KNLS of World
Christian Broadcasting --- but KNLS is the Al`aska station ONLY, which never
has and never will, broadcast in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950.44-AM, Jan 21 at 2324, pirate music, seems to go off at
2326. Captain Morgan Shortwave, per this thread:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,39972.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6935-USB, Jan 21 at 2326, rock singer. This thread says it`s
Moonlight Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,39974.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6935-USB, Jan 22 at 0357, heavy beat music, S4-S6. At 0414,
now stronger S9 with rock, ``You`re the Only One``, 0415 interrupted, and bits
of some more music with cuts, apparently off for good at 0419*. Clever Name
Radio was on frequency:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,39980.0.html
but no reports later than 0232, and would not expect them to cut around like
this (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOMALILAND. 7119.997, Jan 22 at 0355, R. Hargeisa is S9 to S9+10 with
undermodulated talk, slightly below frequency as best I can measure it; much
stronger than the neighboring Eritreans, all INTRUDERS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U A E. UNIDENTIFIED? 7285.095, Jan 22 at 0348, open carrier with some
flutter, maybe trace of modulation; no breaks while I listen, so not a ham?
RSA? No, Sonder Grense is still on 3320. Gone after 0400 recheck. Aha, Aoki
shows 03-04 is a BBC Arabic frequency via UAE, which are renowned for
off-frequency-itis (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1913 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov reports: ``GERMANY,
Reception of World of Radio via HLR on 9485 CUSB, Jan 21
http://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.bg/2018/01/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_21.html
1131-1200 9485 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg to CeEu English Sat, weak/fair``

I missed checking 0030 UT Monday Jan 22 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB, but chances are
high it would have been inaudible.

Confirmed UT Mon Jan 22 starting at 0401:20 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5129.834, S5-S9
but R2 at best. Also confirmed UT Mon Jan 22 at 0430 on WRMI 9455, seamless
transition from NHK Spanish // 5985 until 0430, now // 9955. A bit earlier at
0412, 9455 was S9+10/20 while 9955 was S6-S8 with something in English, so I
was expecting 9455 to be much stronger than 9955 for WOR --- but, now, 9955 has
surged up to S9+20, while 9455 is S9+10 at best! As if 9955 had made an antenna
switch, but that`s not something WRMI ever does on a single frequency,
according to own schedules. Next:
Tue 0030 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 0030 WRMI 7730 to WNW
Tue 2030 WRMI 7780 to NE, 9455 to WNW [or #1914?]

** U S A. 7489.93, Sun Jan 21 at 2314, WBCQ with `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot` in
progress with Greek-sounding music, then a Mystery Song prompting listener
response, really too easy. Always a fun show (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 9395, Jan 22 at 0408-0410, VOA News relayed by WRMI Oldies, S9+10,
better than anything now from VOA itself. Caster is Jonathan Jones, and he
stumbles in one of the stories. I often hear VOA newspersons stumble, and can
only wonder about their experience and professionalism. Maybe they are
distracted with a bad situation on their minds. Not that I never do so, but
recording, I back up and correct most of them; while VOA news is presumably
read live. Not necessarily: for best results, some commercial network news
would be recorded a few minutes before airing. After perfectly canned Bob
Biermann ID, 0411 ``Alice`s Restaurant``, which is the name of the song, not a
restaurant (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475 & 5830, Jan 21 at 2320, WTWW-1 missing from both frequencies,
and 5830 still AWOL at 0425 check Jan 22. 5085 WTWW-2 not on either; and of
course 12105 WTWW-3 has not been heard at all since a December spurt of
activity with Xmasmx (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
