** ALBANIA [non]. 9395 // 5950, Nov 9 at 0237, Great // good reception
of great music in WRMI World Music Fill --- instead of Radio Tirana as
now scheduled on both at 0230. Once again there has been a breakdown
in the convoluted automated routing of RT programming into WRMI;
previously caused by RT itself changing audio feed URL without notice.
In case there was any doubt, no RT announcements, but instead at 0245
WRMI own Spanish ID not by Rudy or Dino; and 0300 both into English
from Radio Prague. I`ll bet the Friday-only at 2300 Tirana on 5850 is
also a no-show. BTW, if and when restored, there would be no RT at
0230 UT Monday, just when WORLD OF RADIO has shown up on 5950, but
that was part of the WRN relay now curtailed (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [non]. 5910, Nov 9 at 0345, bigsig about NHL teams and
pending games with their Beijing times! Suspect it`s CRI; yes, CUBA
relay for B-18 is down here ex-9790, which is prudent considering
plunging winter night + solar cycle minima MUFs; however, 9 MHz might
have worked tonight, judging from WRMI. Not a het from HJDH 5910.3v
which remains gone formonths, forever? Nor do I ever hear anycarrier
when frequency is clear before 0100 RRI, after 0500 CRI Cantonese
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, Nov 8 at 2030, RHC English is VP S7 and
undermodulated, much worse than usual. Something`s always wrong at
RHC. Partly due to degraded propagation altho K-index at 21 is only 2
and G1 storm not started yet. Arnie`s B-18 sked effective Nov 11, via
Wolfgang Bueschel shows 15140 to remain now and expand to continuously
1200-2130, but in three different segments of site, power, antenna;
take that, Oman:

1200-1600 15140 QVC 250 130 SoAm Spanish
1600-1900 15140 BAU 100 010 ENAm Spanish
1900-1930 15140 BAU 100 340 WNAm Arabic
1930-2000 15140 BAU 100 340 WNAm Creole
2000-2100 15140 BAU 100 340 WNAm English
2100-2130 15140 BAU 100 340 WNAm French
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, Nov 9 at 0045, RHC English, but no // found, neither
old 11880 nor new 9720 as from Nov 11 (local or UT?) (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** FRANCE [non]. 5950, Nov 9 at 0051, WRMI in British English, VP S9-
S5, discussing French politicians, and Romania, somewhat more readable
with ECSS, but het de 5952.4 Bolivia must be avoided by PBT and narrow
bandwidth; anyhow presumably new RFI relay as just appeared on the
WRMI skedgrid. This will be helpful if it continue beyond Nov 18 when
RFI says it will cancel its morning English, retaining 1400, only? Ivo
Ivanov reports that the scheduled 06-07 English from Issoudun on 7235
is already absent, leaving only the 0600 WRN via WRMI relay on 5950.
Meanwhile, the new 00-01 RFI 5950 bumps off Japan and Israel via WRN
which we got for a week or two. Whatever else is on the WRN sked at
15-24 UT
http://babcock.media/world-radio-network/schedules/Schedule-English-North-America.pdf
should still be showing on 5950 if you can hear it, and until more
changes be made (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, Nov 9 at 0056, absolutely no signal from XEPPM, as it
is getting quite sporadic. Yet Terry Krueger in Florida was hearing a
weak 6185 Nov 5 at 1103 // MW 1060. ~1100 is a very strange time for
it to be on; beware of North Korea on 6185, but which is in French at
11-12 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA [non]. 11580, Nov 8 at 2042, no signal from R. Nigeria,
Kaduna, via WRMI, scheduled 2000-2300. Ivo Ivanov, back after more
than a month of silence, points out that besides WRMI relays, RN,K is
also scheduled via ISSoudun, France:
05-07 7335, 07-09 13840, 11-15 17690, 20-23 7235 (-21 CCI with
Romania). These cover same timespans as RMI 11580, also 05-09 & 11-15.

7335, Nov 9 at 0552 check, guess what: JBA carrier under heavy pulse
jamming by CUBA against an ex-Radio Mart? frequency. Something`s
always wrong.

Kai Ludwig replies to the WOR iog: ``So who is the financier of these
Issoudun transmissions? FRCN Kaduna itself is so short of money that
they can hardly operate their own Jaji transmitters anymore (so it was
probably not even an equipment failure that silenced 6090 kHz again
earlier this year):

Kai``. Viz.:

``FRCN Kaduna, which was hitherto a leading source of information to
many Hausa speakers in Nigeria and neighbouring countries, is now a
shadow of itself. The Radio Kaduna, as popularly called, does not
operate full hours because it cannot afford diesel to run its
transmitter in Jaji. ?Whenever our transmitter in Jaji is off because
of power supply, the radio station goes off air. The transmitter
guzzles diesel that the station?s meagre resources can?t afford,? a
senior staff of the station said`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 5980, Nov 9 at 0055, pulse jamming already over
weak station, i.e. RRI Spanish now here at 00-01. No, no, DentroCuban
Jamming Command, this is not Radio Mart?, not until its *0600! Commies
vs ex-Commies. RRI Galbeni also 5980 in English at 23-24: so much for
monitoring Radio Chaski, Per? sign-off circa 0000, which ought to be
detectable now without all the QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** SUDAN SOUTH [non]. 6020, Nov 9 at 0351, CRI Chinese via ALBANIA has
considerable undercurrent of talk in Arabish? It`s Radio Tamazuj,
0330-0400, 250 kW, 327 degrees from MADAGASCAR so also USward. Both
stop about 0357 but still a carrier, taken over by RRI Galbeni IS for
0400 English to western North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** TIBET [non]. 7580, Nov 9 at 0058, VP in Chinese? Likely CNR1 jammer
vs VOA Tibetan scheduled this hour only via Kuwait (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K. 5875, Nov 9 at 0049, very poor in English, is BBCWS, 250 kW
due east from Woofferton to S Asia at 00-01; more English: 05-06 due
south; 19-22 (Sat/Sun -21) also southerly (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 11850, Nov 8 at 2044, S9-S7 of tonal African language,
music. It`s VOA Hausa via BOTSWANA, daily except Sunday 2030-2100
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 7355 & 7365, Nov 9 at 0100, no signals from R.
Mart? on the two frequencies scheduled this hour, just some jamming,
but still audible mixed jamming on 6030. Suspect the upper GBs are off
rather than a sharp MUF cutoff this early in evening. And later at
0341, 7355 & 7435 are VG over jamming, as usual much better than 6030
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490.1+, Nov 9 at 0101, WBCQ with an `Allan Weiner
Worldwide` playback filling an Available Time Slot; over ``William
Tell Overture`` he queries, ``what the hell happened to radio? We`re
still trying, yes we are`` and then plugs americanradiohistory.com
site, into the early history of RCA. I wish he would announce at the
outset, the original YOOL airdate so we can keep better track of
episodes (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7780 // 5950 // 5850 // 9395, UT Fri Nov 9 at 0107, `Voice
of the Report of the Week` on all these WRMIs; maybe one reason he`s
not on WBCQ any more; the self-absorbed John musing about not making
many changes but maybe some reduxions in December. 5850 & 9395 are
*much* stronger than the others, and 9395 has surged up to S9+30/40.
Skedgrid shows he`s also on 7730 the previous hour UT Fri 00-01 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) WRMI: See also nons: ALBANIA, FRANCE,
NIGERIA

** U S A. 5970, Nov 9 at 0054, S9+20 dead air from presumed WEWN
Spanish. The QSY from 12050 was supposed to be at 0000 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

re R Kaduna Nigeria relay via TDF Issoudun,
my strong feeling is, payed by EU Brussels budget
or even of France/Germany's secret services
to strengthen the Muslim government there.

Similar help of French govt goes to TDA Algiers Arabic language program on
shortwave 49, 41, and 31 mb.
Covers Sahel Sahara zone with the Algiers program to the locals to stabilize
the authoritiy govts there - since a decade or much longer. 73 wb

** CUBA. 13700, Nov 9 at 1407, this RHC is already off today while
13740 remains on. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 7355, 7375, 7435, etc., Nov 9 at 0708, NO Radio Mart?
frequencies on this band --- and none are scheduled after 0700, just
5980 and 6030, both heavily jammed. Nor 11860, which was originally
registered overnight in the latter A-season, in addition to daytime
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUAM. 11580, Nov 9 at 1340, talk in language; at first I assume
would be Radio Nigeria, Kaduna, via WRMI as scheduled, but unseems
Hausa, and gone at 1347 recheck. So it`s really FEBA Radio India via
GUAM scheduled until 1345* in Kannada on Friday. Aoki doesn`t say
which Guam station, but HFCC shows KTWR. I suppose those are better
bedfellows than AWR & FEBA could be (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST) see NIGERIA [non]!

** JAPAN. 774, Nov 9 at 1238, via DX-398 with internal antenna only,
NHK-2 with enough audio to hear English lesson with Japanese mixed ---
our #1 TP signal, 500 kW JOUB, Akita. See UNIDENTIFIED for all the JBA
carriers too (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA [non]. 11580, Nov 9 at 1340, WRMI missing again, no Radio
Nigeria, Kaduna relay, instead FEBA Radio India via GUAM, q.v. Guess
what, the latest WRMI skedgrid checked Nov 9 at 1657 shows that Jeff
White and sidekix Anonymous Axolotl (? vanished before I could copy
spelling) and Anonymous Quagga have removed RN,K completely from the
sked leaving 11580 blank 24 hours to Africa.

Reactivated Ivo had uncovered more relays of this via ISSoudun,
France, including 17690 at 11-15 UT, but nothing audible there at
1415; Europe surely propagating poorly anyway, tho the Saudi trio
17895/17705/17615- are detectable. However, Wolfgang Bueschel was
hearing RN,K via ISS Nov 9 at 0555 on 7335, while overrun Cuban
jamming blox it here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. Tho we know both SAIpan and TINian are
out of commission for many months at least, latest B-18 HFCC dated
1108 still shows many transmissions from them. Some have surely been
moved to other sites now following Typhoon Yutu destruxion, others
just off, but USAGM has failed to update registrations and does not
answer my requests for accurate new info. Confidentiality about this
cannot be justified (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY [and non]. 12035.730, Nov 9 at 1403, VOT is VP in talk,
presumably `Letterbox` now on Friday. Half an hour earlier I had only
a weak signal on 12035.0 which must have been KSDA in Thai, but no
sign of TRT off-frequency then.

11815.00, Nov 9 at 1405, NHK music is atop the collision with on-
frequency TRT Turkish, a medium-SAH apart today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7310-7315-7320, Nov 9 at 0708, finally hearing WINB-style
DRM noise on this frequency registered 0700-0900 M-F. By ``style`` I
mean normal DRM noise on the plus side, very ``rough`` noise on the
minus side just like had been on 15665-15670-15675, then replaced by
13685-13690-13695 in the daytime as again roaring S9 Nov 9 at 1406
(but never on weekends). BTW, 7315-AM is also available to WHRI at
0600-0900.

There continues to be a dearth of info on what *programming* is on
these DRMs, and what kind of *data* is also being transmitted, even
among DRM enthusiasts, who don`t seem to care about content. A recent
WINB twit says the 09-11 test on 9265 to Europe is being received well
oppositely in NZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, Nov 9 at 1320, distorted music, Chinese announcement
from WRNO, S9+20/30. Presumably running until nominal 1400* now post-
DST (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 580, Nov 9 at 1256 UT, with WIBW KS nulled as much as
possible, something else in English with ads, one mentioning Montrose,
i.e. KUBC in SW CO, 5/1 kW U2, 500 watt PSRA. Night pattern goes
slightly east of north with very minor lobe thisaway; day pattern ND.
Official November sunrise is not until 1345 UT! (Dec: 1415) (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VATICAN. 12075, Nov 9 at 1418, talk with heavy echo, long/short
path apparently, from R. Azadi (Free Afghanistan), IBB service 250 kW,
80 degrees via SMG site, violating Separation of Church & State (let
alone Mosque). Long path is 3.55 X farther than short path. Latest
Aoki/NDXC shows further 12075 usage: 1430 switch to R. Ashna via
Kuwait; but latest HFCC says Vatican continues to 1500, then switch to
Thailand. Which is it? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, Nov 9 at 1241-1253,
after first hearing audio from always checked first, 774 JAPAN, q.v.:
567-NW, 594-NW, 603-NW, 612-NW, 693-NW, 738-NW, 747-NW, 828-NW, 873-
NW, 882(2), 936-NW, 945-NW, 1008-NW(2), 1017, 1044-NW, 1098-NW(2),
1134-NW, 1548-WSW, 1566-NW. By the time I`ve finished, 774 has faded
down quite. Local sunrise: 1303 UT (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 880, Nov 9 at 1304 UT, with KRVN nulled, seems WSW/ENE,
opening Spanish hyper wake-up DJ show. 406 area code mentioned, I
thought, but that`s Montana with an English 880. More likely WIJR
Highland IL near St Louis MO (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENIFIED. 4869.904, Nov 9 at 1315, very poor carrier, but off-
frequency attention-getting, since that`s where RRI Wamena, INDONESIA
used to be, as last reported February 23, 2017 by Ron Howard, DXLD 17
-09. Ron found it missing after that but Atsunori Ishida last logged
it on April 3, 2017:
http://web.archive.org/web/20170726001348/http://rri.jpn.org:80/dat/html/2017/2017-04.html
Other Indos have surprisingly reactivated lately; stranger things have
happened. AIR Kingsway had been on the + side of 4870 but currently
not on before 1330 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7600-USB, Nov 9 at 0711, 2-way in colloquial Spanish. I
won`t call these intruders, rather all the broadcasters in the 7 MHz
fixed band (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11415-USB, Nov 9 at 1350-1401+, net of Indonesian
stations, some of them melodic, believe to be pirate QSOs. One strong
enough, most of the others quite weak (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
