** CUBA [and non]. 96.7 FM, July 17 at 1646 UT, lexure in Spanish
during big mixed sporadic E and tropo openings; 1658 song with refrain
``Guajira``. 1659, ``Rebelde, La Habana, Emisora de la Revoluci?n,
1700 ``Noticiero Nacional de Radio``. 1711 still in with Cuban
mentions, national weather summary, 1713 ``NN de R`` program ID again,
``en AM, FM y Onda Corta``.

Cuban FM DX is rare here, mostly too far for single-hop sporadic E,
but Habana is possible at 2095 km = 1302 miles, and westward. WTFDA FM
Database has three Rebeldes on 96.7, Bayamo and Moa too far, but this
must be:

CMBA-FM 96.7 CD. HABANA CH NEWS/TALK/VARIETY RADIO REBELDE 1.0 kWH 0.0
kWV 100.0 m HAAT 23-07-16 82-18-54 REBELDE Tx site Loma de la
Cruz/Regla
There are three other non-Rebelde 96.7s, one further west, R Mantua,
but presumably would not be RR relayers at midday. Only 1 kW
horizontal only, not very impressive for a flagship!?

Meanwhile I am hunting for other Cubans! Only one possibility:
99.1, July 17 at 1703, some CCI in Spanish. Besides two low-power
translators, this is the only full-power, and same site as 96.7:
CMBF-FM 99.1 CD. HABANA CH CLASSICAL/OPERA/ARTS RADIO MUSICAL NACIONAL
8.0 kWH only 100.0 m 23-07-16 82-18-54 RADIO TAINO Tx site Loma de la
Cruz/Regla --- R. Ta?no is in the ``PS Info`` column, not sure what
that mean in practice.

I am still researching *many* other FM DX logs between 1533 and 1942,
Es from Florida, eastern, central and western MEXICO from Canc?n to
Mazatl?n; at same time mid-day tropo from Kansas, Nebraska, as far as
Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and hope to have it done in less than three
days (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, July 17 at 1501, Voice of Martyrs Korea,
Maldives service I hadn`t checked in some weeks after exhausting
speculation about its secret site. Sermon in English, 1503 refers to
``next slide`` but nothing to see! And not yet switched to Dhivehi if
ever. S5/S7 signal which is still a lot better than it should be if
focused on Maldives, from best guess Taiwan; or from anywhere to the
other side of the world (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1120 kHz, July 18 at 0140 UT, I`m rechecking
tonight for the unID SS QRM to KMOX. This is just before nominal
sunset 0145 at KETU Catoosa/Tulsa, after which this daytimer must
close, ha2: there is some CCI, but seems more than 8 Hz SAH as counted
last night. At 0412 UT, on caradio while checking for FMDX, now it`s
more like 7 Hz. Inside on the altazimuth wrist-mounted DX-398, I`m on
it for good, determined to definitely ID it, nulling KMOX to the max,
or min. Between tunes, a YL talx at some length, seems to be
relationship advice. Keeps giving phone number but I can`t copy; does
not start with AC 918. Romantic music plays right thru 0500 UT with no
sign of any ID. At 0523 I bring up the KETU stream
http://streamcontrol.net:16330/; and it does match with a delay. At
0524 finally I hear a full ID on the radio including ``KETU -- 97.9 La
Diferente, la estaci?n --- de Tulsa, Oclajoma``. Call letters
pronounced in English, Toolsa en eSpanish. And promptly also on the
stream. No mention of an AM frequency; who cares, now that they have
an FM translator to wag it, K250BN?! So they may forget it exist, let
alone illegally all-night. Thus my previous log under UNID will be
promoted to OKLAHOMA in the Roundup. Remember, this is SUPPOSED to be
off the air at night, ceding 1120 to clear-channel KMOX St Louis. BTW,
KETU is owned by a grocery store in Arkansas called Las Am?ricas;
don`t be surprised to hear that name in commercials. And how lame is
the slogan ``different`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Mon July 17 at 2200, REE VG into Maryland with token
English, news including heat wave, followed by an admitted repeat of
Justin`s interview with a female clown. Haven`t run across a mailbag
or `DX program` in many months; has anyone? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, July 17 at 2200, no signal into UTwente from VOT
English to us, just a weakie presumed China. But on by next check
2216, S9+30/45 with repeat of the `Feeling Supreme` about what to eat
vs osteoporosis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. After the Es FM DX opening July 18, I try the 10m beacon
band and quite a lot of activity including overlaps, only a few of
which I log:

28204 at 1859, W0WF/B, as often heard, 20 watts from St Charles MO

28218 at 1953, VVV VVV DE K4PAR/B --- also heard July 11; not in WJ5O
roster now! But back then I copied from it: 28.2175 K4PAR ? EATONTON,
GEORGIA # ?,? un-coordinated 28 May 19 reported by Richard SWL

The WJ5O roster I have bookmarked is now dated 8 September 2016! So
may have defaulted to a non-updated version.
https://www.qsl.net/wj5o/bcn.htm

28284.8 at 1954, V V V N9TNY/B EN51PS - very slow with long pause.
Also removed from WJ5O roster but when I heard him June 7 was 5 watts
from Geneva IL

28290.8 at 1956, K5TLJ/B, 5 watts from Trumann, Arkansas

28297 at 1958, E E E E E NS9RS ... CHICAGO --- 5 watts from Northfield
IL. This time I mis?copied it as NS9RF (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2147 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
July 17 at 2000.5 in IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, Villa Estense,
S9+10 into nearby Noale SDR but with heavy ACI from stronger signals
on 1314 & 1332; following rock music and 2000 IRRS SW ID. 918 not on
nor 207 kHz.

Knoxville SDR. Still airing now altho not on the skedgrid.

For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much
appreciated; thanks this week to Kari Kallio, Lahti, Finland, for some
tuki via PayPal not necessarily originally in US funds, to woradio at
yahoo.com

One may also contribute by postal money order or check in US funds on
a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330.066, July 18 at 0233, WLCR/WBCQ now off-frequency-plus,
in Portuguese into PEI SDR, almost agreed by Georgia SDR, 9330.065.

9330.147, July 19 at 0028, S9+20/25 in Portuguese into Maryland SDR.
Altho strength can be VG, such offfrequenciness is not characteristic
of the 500 kW SuperStition transmitter which is presumably still down
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1090, July 18 at 0528 UT, praise music direct, again far too
big a sig to be legal 80 watts from KAAY, but I // it to stream:
https://www.iheart.com/live/1090am-kaay-5383/?autoplay=true
This is bad news for licensed CC 50 kW 1090s, WBAL Baltimore and KFNQ
Seattle, if that`s still its call, but what do you bet they do not
know nor care? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** WALES [and non]. 14263-USB, July 17 at 0624, already tuned near
here for CIDX, I eavesdrop on a near-antipodal contact between MW0YVK
and VK3OZY, both equally weak but almost sufficient, discussing how
hot it is in UK, 40 degrees in London; and they often repeat calls at
cambios unlike so many hams:
MW0YVK Wales flag Wales
Eddy Howells
72 hollywell cresent,
ABERGAVENNY, MONMOUTHSHIRE, NP7 5LG
Wales
--- and Victorian holder of that perfect Aussie callsign:
VK3OZY Australia flag Australia
GRANT "Grunt" MAHONEY
SKYE 3977
Australia
with lots of illos at his page:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
