``The Radio Cairo "humbuzz" consists of a 50 Hz tone and harmonics. On
16 December, at least, the 50-Hz, 100-Hz, and 300-Hz tones were
typically dominant (see attached Audacity spectrum plot). Using
multiple notch filters on a recorded audio file at just these three
audio frequencies resulted in improved audio to the point that a
discussion could actually be followed although it was tiresome. Still

Heard AIR flute pause signal then, at 01.27 UT AIR station annmt read
in Indonesian, and AIR Indonesian schedule read til 01.29:55 UT.
AIR flute interval signal til 01.30:40 UT, when regular AIR program
start by female announcer read.
At 01.30 UT no signal stated of AIR Leh mountain sce on 4760 kHz.
13695 kHz AIR Mandarin service channel at 00.36 UT Dec 20:
13694.995 kHz AIR Bangalore signal - on lower fq side flank ! -
13695even CHN CNR1 jamming signal on co-channel.
Compared SDR signals in Doha Qatar, Delhi, Hiroshima and Tokyo Japan.
7380.003 AIR Bangalore scheduled at 01.00-01.30 UT in Sinhala, but
noted much earlier on air.
Powerful S=9+30dB signal, loud sub-continental music already heard
around 00.51 UT. An AIR stn ID heard at 00.59 UT like also Punjabi
mentioned. Sinhala language service to Ceylon / SoIND started around
01.00:05 UT after AIR flute pause signal.
Poor AIR DRM signal of Tibetan from scheduled Delhi Kingsway sce
noted also at 01.00 UT, due of short distance on 11560 kHz,
accompanied by CNR1 jamming - only fair signal from China mainland.
SRI LANKA (tentat. ? - or Tashkent UZB ? ) 00.00-01.00 UT.
11829.905 much odd signal of AWR Mandarin sce; like Tashkent UZB
signals on lower fq flank. AWR n o t jammed by China mainland
CNR signal. Program break 00.28 to 00.30 UT, then at 00.30:06 UT
2nd part of AWR Mandarin 30 mins duration each, started.
Maybe one of three SLBC TXs at Trincomalee relay site
send out on lower fq sideband flank these days ?
MARIANA ISLAND 15109.996 kHz US AGM relay site of Tinian bcast
RFA Burmese at 00.30-01.30 UT, powerful signal into Delhi and
Doha Qatar SDRs, S=9+15dB at 01.11 UT.
CHINA 15180DRM digital mode CNR outlet from southern China
Kunming Shangri-la bcast center at 01.14 UT noted as S=9 in
Hiroshima Japan SDR.
TAIWAN 15249.998 US RFA powerful Burmese sce outlet from
Pao Chung Taiwan relay, S=9+10dB at 00.30-01.30 UT, Dec 20.
KOREA REP OF (South) 4885.003 EoH Korean sce, but heard rather
western English language pop mx of UK and USA origin, meant to
northern D.P.R. nationals audience. S=9+10dB powerful signal
noted in Hirsoshima Japan SDR at 01.37 UT.
KYRGYZ REP 4010.007 kHz Kyrgyz language sce from Bishkek at
01.42 UT Dec 20; S=9+5dB signal observed in Doha Qatar ME and
Delhi SDR units.

I have often heard Space Weather Woman Tabitha Skove say that around
the Terminator between Light and darkness is a Transitory process
where Propagation Magic Happens.Space Weather Woman on youtube is
Where I first found her informative and Accredited Instructional
videos and I come away with a new and better understanting as so
to be a better more complete Dxer.Well there is always a terminator
somewhere in the world and with a proliferation of SDR,s around the globe
we have a new resource to study these Phenomenon that happen
Around these transitory complex events where I feel were just scratching
the surface of useful practial knowledge to be gained.
I like using the SDR,s in the Hawian Islands so tonight I saw that
On 12095 khz and 7285 Khz BBCWS in AL-Seela,Oman at 0415z was about
1.5 hours after Sunrise and AI6VN/KH6 RSDR in Maui was around 1 hour
before Sunset so I checked those 2 frequencies and they were quite
Open as I thought with great signals S9+ on both.I know ther is still
more propagation studies to be discovered if your are just willing
to (put the time in)and use the resouces that are available.If you
have any thoughts or infomation about this common area of interest
please share it with the rest of us...

Gary, where do you find a Maui KiwiSDR? On the map I use, I only ever see
one in Honolulu. What source do you see them in? I asked the same
