** BRAZIL. 9665v, March 26 at 0143, no signal from R. Voz Mission?ria,
usually quite reliable here. How about their other frequencies?
Nothing around 5940v either nor have I detected it in a longer time.
11750.16 has a JBA carrier, maybe RVM; propagation? 11780 RNA is
blasting in (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6100, March 25 at 0631, long-absent RHC is back on here in
Spanish, S9+25 but undermodulated with self-imposed noise unlike
elsewhere, 0633 ID. But 6000 is off. 5025 is on at S9+40/50 in Spanish
seems different, so Rebelde. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. From SW Radio/Gold March 23: ``Hi Glenn, thanks your
message and the regular links for downloading WOR - good work as
well^^

Concerning HFCC A24 changes: YES we stay at local CET times. So you
should shift times UTC for WOR to one hour earlier.

NEW schedule for Shortwave Gold will be as follows, cause the Chinese
invasion of the 49 mBand should be gone with Sunday 31st of March:

6160 kHz: 07:00 UTC to 22:00 UTC
3975 kHz: 17:00 UTC to 00:00 UTC

6160 and 3975 will carry WOR in parallel to the current CEST/CET
times, when overlapping.

We are currently working on 'filling' the extended evening airtime
with programming concerning 6160 kHz after 15:00 UTC and 3975
kHz after 22:00 UTC. I am sure you will have some more slots for
WOR.

I will inform you about the exact times in a couple of days' time.

BTW, concerning the difference between SW Gold and SW Radio.
"Shortwave Gold" is the licenced broadcaster by BNetzA. Courtesy
"Shortwave Radio" puts out their shows, as well as some relays
and shows under the roof of the Shortwave Gold label.

73's Andy (Engineer @ Shortwave Radio Gold - Winsen at the river
Aller)`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6960 AM, March 26 at 0145, JBA music, OPOB. These
say it`s WWWW, also in DRM, USB at times. DRM? Really, from a pirate?
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,127617.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Mar 25, token English from SNR, usual VG signal
into Maryland SDR, 2309 about the EU A-I Act; but then I`m listening
to Turkey instead (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. Finally available, easily reached via the WOR Hitlist, the
Fri Mar 22 ``March 23`` English podcast, so I can transcribe exactly
what was said as the first news item, good news for SW, tho cloaked in
gobbledygook:

``We broadcast on shortwave, and on Thursday the president of Spanish
National Television and Radio defended our shortwave station in
parliament; regarding the message that the corporation is adopting to
guarantee the continuity and the future of Radio Exterior`s shortwave
broadcasts, the president announced that the purchasing of a new
transmitter, the first of five, is already underway [snippet of
original Spanish: ...concreto, ya est? en marcha el proceso de compra
del primero de los nuevo cinco transmisores requeridos para una ?ptima
prestaci?n del servicio...]. These transmitters will be installed in
the center in Noblejas, Toledo, one of the biggest antenna fields in
Europe. The corporation is also working with the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs to draft a collaboration agreement that will contemplate the
role and relevance of the shortwave service provided by Radio Exterior
de Espa?a [``...la onda corta, como Vd. se ha dicho muy bien, se ha
convertido en una alternativa al bloqueo de internet y de otros
canales de informaci?n, como se ha podido ver en la reciente guerra en
Ucrania, ?no?...``] The president mentioned that shortwave has become
an alternative to blocking the internet and other information channels
as has been seen in the war between Russia and Ukraine. And also, we
guarantee sharing information from Spain to America, Europe, Africa,
Asia and Oceania. She also added that the corporation hopes to have
support from the future mandate framework in order to guarantee this
service which she has no doubt is a state service [``...unreadable ...
de que se trata de un servicio de estado.``]

Why do they need five new transmitters? The old four are still
working, most of the time. BTW, altho the English broadcasts are
exactly 30 minutes, all these podcasts are slightly longer, up to
33:22 mins, meaning that we are missing something on SW; why? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.002, Sunday March 24 at 2314 tune-in, VOT English
S9+30 into UTwente, constant undercurrent of 6CI = Chinese Communist
Chinese language co-channel interference from XJRTV, EAST TURKISTAN.
VOT with ``with-you-every-hour`` promo; 2315 `Weekly Analysis` by a
foreign policy researcher, we can never catch their names even if
Westerners, about T`s relations with Iraq, Syria, Iran, banning PKK.
2319 music. 2323 `Letterbox`, just had snow in late March, climate
change; from New Delhi, Japan, Beijing, Pakistan, Pakistan, Alokesh
Gupta of New Delhi, 2337 music, 2341 ``out of time`` for L/Box, music.
2346 ``always-by-your-side`` promo. 2350 multi-lingual ID filler reel;
2253 s/off as if for 1330; 2353.5 IS twice and off* (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.003, Mon Mar 25 at 2304 tune-in, VOT S9+30/40 into
UTwente during news read by the badax; 2312 `Review of Turkish Press`
by same. 2314 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo; 2315 `The Energy Agenda`
- T wants to be not just a transit center but a hub [what`s the
difference?] for export of oil & natural gas into Europe; already
pipelines from Iran and Azerbaijan; with stats of sizes of reserves of
both in several countries: Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia avoiding Ukraine,
Turkmenistan, Qatar, Sa`udi Arabia; southern Cyprus mentioned last but
without info as it`s Greek. Not until 2322 do I notice the 6CI tho
probably started earlier. 2324 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2326
`That`s Why` badax about smoking and cancer. 2331 music. 2336 TRT
World promo, music. 2339 ``always-by-your-side`` promo. 2340 music.
2344 more music vocal with drumming. 2352 s/off the 1330 broadcast
only, about 8 notes of IS before chopoff 2353*, no finesse, uncovering
XJRTV, std genocidal denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 17907 USB, March 25 at 1435, busy ATC frequency of NY Radio,
continuous contacts with many flights, mostly audible weaker; juliet
3, echo 18; 13297 secondary; United 1984; Air Canada --; 2-tone
selcalls thrice; squawk code 6032; 35.2 mentioned several times. EiBi
shows NYR available 24h for Caribbean flights, Piarco, Trinidad could
also be there. First time I recall hearing anything on 17907, despite
often tuning across this band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2235 monitoring: ``Solar Storm hits
WOR schedule. From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the
desk of Richard?s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, antenna:
random long wires in the trees. WRMI:

March 23 0130 UT Saturday 5850 kHz to NW heard nothing.
March 24 0000 UT Sunday 9955 to SSE heard nothing, (Lemke, Richard

Confirmed Sunday March 24 at 2000 on WRMI webcast only.

Also confirmed Sunday March 24 at 2100 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.996
kHz, S9 into UTwente across Europe.

Also confirmed Sunday March 24 at 2100 on WRN-Europe webcast.

Also confirmed Sunday March 24 at 2230.5 on SW Radio, Germany, S9/+10
into UTwente. See GERMANY for upcoming A24 changes as of March 31.

Also confirmed UT Monday March 25 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, poor into
Maryland SDR, but no noise blasts.

Also confirmed UT Monday March 25 after 0230 on WRN N America
webcast.

Also confirmed UT Monday March 25 at 0300 on WBCQ 6159.932, S7 but
noisy into Maryland SDR. Succeeded this week, missing last week.

Also confirmed Monday March 25 at 2057 the 2030 on SW Radio, Germany,

2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated, by MO or
check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK
73702. Many thanks this week for a generous quarterly check
celebrating Equinox and Solstice, from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7490-), Sun Mar 24 at 2200, WBCQ webcast is replaying the
``final`` `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot` of last week, March 17. UB
replies: ``Not my doing, this normally would have been Julio Cesar
Pereira's Ginga Brasil!, but he is on indefinite hiatus. Guess they
used the UBMP for filler. There will, however, be an hour-long Plain
Old Doug Show next Sunday. Doug does a nice combo of music, comedy and
poetry, sometimes in the actual voices of poets like Robert Frost``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, March 25 at 1433, no signal from WLCR WBCQ. What`s
wrong? Propagation has been disturbed but ought to be at least a trace
of it. At 1913, only S8/9, English into Missouri SDR, but zero sig
into UTwente! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5850, Mon March 25 at 0629, WRMI unusually off; leaving JBA
persistent noise. 5950 also off as well as 5010, 7570, 7780, 9955; but
these are on: 7730, 9395, 9455. Per current skedgrid, the same except
5850 & 7780 supposed to be on with TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, Tue March 26 at 0147, WRMI-5 is S9+20/30 of dead air;
I keep listening, enthralled by the silence of the TOMBS; 0159
suddenly comes to life with ID and right into rock/soul music without
intro. I`ll look it up on the skedgrid: at 0100-0200 it`s supposed to
be RAE Spanish relay, so if it were modulated would probably be
multi-lingual ID filler reel; and still System K bright green after
0200 -- but not accounted for anywhere on the program sked searched
below! Something`s odd at Okeechobee (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WTWW: George McClintock called with an update at 2115 UT
March 24: 9475 is on the air testing, 40-50 kW. VG signal here on the
D808 with own antenna, sounds like BB. Dropped off the air and back on
by itself while we were talking. Plans are to start #2 xmtr on 9475 at
20 UT, change to 5085 at 00; BB is gathering new programming and will
start earlier when time sold. A lot has been spent on getting #1
working. #3 for 12105 might get some Arabic programming (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
